The International Institute for Central Asian
Studies (IICAS) announces the 2nd online lecture dedicated to the 100th
anniversary of Prof. Vladimir LIVSHITS (1923 – 2017) to be given on September 22,
2023, by Prof. Frantz GRENET, Membre de l’Académie des Inscriptions et
Belles-Lettres. The lecture is entitled “Dewashtich’s postal system”
The lecture focuses on several postal systems
used by Dewashtich, the last ruler of Panjikent as reflected in a number of
letters of both Sogdian and Arabic origin.
The lecture is open to everyone interested in
the Sogdian heritage and will be held in Zoom in English. Simultaneous

Online lecture series is held in the framework
of the Silk Road Memory of the World (MoW) joint research project through the
