The International Institute for Central
Asian Studies (IICAS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dipartimento di
Civilta e Forme del Sapere, Universita di Pisa (Faculty of Civilizations and
Forms of Knowledge, University of Pisa, Italy). The parties agreed to cooperate
in research projects and programmes, exchange academic data and publications,
and implement joint work in areas of mutual interests.
The scope of cooperation within the
framework of the signed memorandum concerns the establishment of cooperation
and participation of members of both organisations in seminars, workshops,
joint training programmes, development of research programmes, and organisation
of workshops.
Founded on 3 September 1343, the
University of Pisa is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of
the most famous in the country. The university was established on the basis of
the Pisan schools that had existed in the city since the 11th century. At the
time of its founding, its curriculum included theology, medicine, civil and
canon law. Currently, the University comprises 20 departments in various
fields, including the Faculty of Civilizations and Forms of Knowledge, which
studies archaeology, communications, philosophy, oriental studies, history and
forms of art, fine arts and other subjects.
Joint activities will ensure the
dissemination of the most up-to-date academic and cultural knowledge.
