In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan of 16 January 2024, Dr. Dilshod Rahimi was appointed as Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Tajikistan to UNESCO. Until today Dr. Dilshod Rahimi was representative of Tajikistan in the Academic Council of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies. During last two decades he was actively involved in elaboration and implementation of research projects on tangible and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of Central Asian part of the Silk Roads. His responsibilities were to conduct research on current cultural heritage elements registered on the national ICH lists, inventory-making of intangible heritage and its bearers and the maintenance and improvement of ICH database. He was also actively involved as a team member in various projects and programmes aimed at safeguarding, documentation, inventory-making and transmitting of intangible cultural heritage. Dr. Dilshod Rahimi also represented Tajikistan in the Coordinating Bureau of the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network, established jointly by ICHCAP (UNESCO category 2 Centre in the Republic of Korea) and IICAS in 2021. His previous professional experience: Associate Professor of the Tajik State Institute of Arts named after M. Tursunzoda (2001-2006), Head of the Department of Folklore of the Rudaki Institute of Language and Literature (2006-2016), Deputy Director (2016-2020) and then Director of the Research Institute of Culture and Information of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan (2020-2022), Head of the Center for the Cultural Heritage of Tajiks under the Research Institute of Culture and Information (2022-2024). Mr. Dilshod Rahimi obtained PhD degree of the Department of Folklore of the Rudaki Institute of Language and Literature (Dushanbe, 2003) and Masters Degree in Philology of the Tajik National University (Dushanbe, 1999). He was Fulbright visiting scholar in the Ohio State University (2006) and Minnesota University (2011).
