On May 28, 2022, a meeting was held at the
International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) with representatives
of the delegation from the Russian Federation, consisting of Dr. Konstantin
Mogilevskiy, the Executive Director of the History of the Fatherland Foundation
and a member of the Presidium of the Russian Historical Society, Dr. Ramil
Khairutdinov, Director of the Institute of International Relations (IMO) of
Kazan (Volga) Federal University and Dr. Airat Sitdikov, Director of the Khalikov
Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of
Tatarstan.
In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the Director
of IICAS Dr. Dmitriy Voyakin offered a brief overview of the history of the
institute, its management structure, areas of activity and research interests. Dr.
Mogilevsky, in turn, spoke about the history of the creation of the History of
the Fatherland Foundation, its goals and objectives, as well as the activities
of the Russian Historical Society. A separate topic was the prospects for
cooperation in the research field.
The meeting at the headquarters of IICAS office
was followed by a working meeting at the Silk Road International University of
Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
At Samarkand State University, colleagues from
the Russian Federation were presented an archaeological museum, where
university scientists and researchers managed to collect a unique collection of
artifacts found at world-famous archaeological sites in the Samarkand region.
The meeting with the faculty, scientists, researchers and students of the
university helped to outline, in the format of a lively discussion, the ways
and directions of further cooperation.
The reception of the delegation ended with a
sightseeing tour of Samarkand.
