5, 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Yildiz
Sarayi Vakfi Foundation and the International Institute for Central Asian
Studies (IICAS).
The Yildiz
Sarayi Vakfi Foundation is a structure created on the basis of the Ildiz palace
complex, which is Turkey’s unique historic monument. The mission of the
foundation is to ensure comprehensive conservation, maintenance and promotion
of this monument, including regular repairs, restoration, staff training,
organization of various events and much more. This activities are supported by
the Turkish government and philanthropists as it creates a favorable
environment for tourism.
IICAS's
collaboration with the Yildiz Sarayi Vakfi Foundation paves the way for both
institutions to conduct joint research, exchange academic knowledge,
participate and organize joint scientific events such as seminars and
conferences.
The main research topic identified in the articles of the memorandum is cultural, social, historical and archaeological research along the Silk Road with an emphasis on intercultural interactions and common heritage in Central Asia and other IICAS member states.
