The third annual meeting of the Coordinating Bureau (CB) of the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network (SRLHN) was held in Shymkent/Kazakhstan on 23-24 October 2023 (previous, second meeting was organized on 23 October 2022 in Istanbul/Turkiye). The meeting was organized by the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) in collaboration with IICAS, Municipality of Shymkent City and National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO. CB consists of experts in the field of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) from 9 countries (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkiye and Uzbekistan) and representatives from ICHCAP and IICAS. The third meeting of the CB examined following issues: (1) Reports of the SRLHN Activities in 2022 and 2023; (2) Mid-Long-Term Strategy of the SRLHN; (3) Study on Sustainable Use of Silk Roads Traditional Crafts; (4) Approval of the list of Silk Roads ICH Festivals; (5) Action Plan for SRLHN in 2024. The results of regional studies for elaboration of the SRLHN Strategy and Sustainable Use of Silk Roads Traditional Crafts were delivered by the representative of IICAS. While taking note with appreciation the activity reports, CB suggested considering the possibility of multilingual interface of the built Web Page for SRLHN (https://www.unesco-ichcap.org/sln/srlhn/). Next, members of the CB have examined the proposals from ICHCAP to be implemented jointly in 2024: publication of the book “Navruz” (shared ICH element among Silk Roads countries) and policy meeting on sustainable development of Silk Roads ICH festivals and traditional crafts (Republic of Korea, February 2024). At the end, participants expressed their support for the proposal from Azerbaijan regarding possibility of organization of the next, fourth meeting of the Coordinating Bureau in Shusha (third quarter 2024).
