On 13 March 2023, an official mission of the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (IRCI) under the auspices of UNESCO visited the Headquarters of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) in Samarkand. In a warm and friendly atmosphere Ms. Aina Inoue and Ms. Anastasiia Dudko, IRCI Associate Fellows briefly summarized the scope of activities of IRCI, fields of research and talked about ongoing programs. In response, Dr. Dmitriy Voyakin and Mr. Alim Feyzulayev offered a short introduction to prior and current initiatives undertaken by IICAS in the field of intangible cultural heritage. The parties expressed their sincere willingness to intensify collaboration by launching joint projects and initiatives. An agreement was reached that further practical steps will be made toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the institutions.
