On 25 August 2023, Mr. Wang Yiqin from Tsinghua University and Dr. Irina I. Kolesnik, Associate Professor, Graduate School of International Relations, Institute of Humanities of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, paid an informal visit to the Headquarters of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS). The meeting at the IICAS Secretariat was a logical continuation of the correspondence initiated some time ago.  

During a friendly conversation, Mr. Alim Feyzulayev, a Leading Researcher, presented in detail the background of the Institute, scope of activity, and most recent achievements. Special focus was placed on the extent and the scope of collaboration of the Institute with Chinese research institutions. Mr. Wang Yiqin expressed his genuine interest in establishing contacts between Tsinghua University and IICAS within the framework of major regional initiatives. The first step will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoW) between the institutions. 

The publications of IICAS raised considerable interest among the guests. Several publications, including those supported by IICAS in the framework of the biannual grants, were handed over to the guests.
