During her trip to the Republic of Uzbekistan of 1-4 November 2021, Ms. Aliya Gazizovna Baysabayeva, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and IСESCO paid an official visit to the Office of International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS).
During the working meeting in a warm and friendly atmosphere, Mr. Dmitry Voyakin, Director of IICAS and the IICAS Secretariat members made a brief presentation on the IICAS activities and showcased a number of projects that are being fulfilled with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and, in particular, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ICESCO. Among these projects are "Archives of Central Asia", "Medieval mosques and minarets", as well as publishing of an original monograph dedicated to the research of the Sygnak settlement necropolis. The progress of the work currently underway, the achievements made to date, and the prospects of further research became the subject of a vigorous discussion at the meeting.
In conclusion, Ms. Baysabayeva expressed her warm gratitude to the staff of the IICAS Secretariat and to Mr. Dmitry Voyakin personally, and underscored the importance of the work being carried out by the Institute, and the high significance of this work for the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular, and for the vast region of Central Asia, in general.
