In 2022, comprehensive research was carried out at the archaeological site of Keske-Kuyuk Kala in the east of the Aral Sea area with the financial support of the Society for the Exploration of EurAsia (Switzerland). This monument has been studied systematically since 2008.

A team of researchers studied the site's stratigraphy and irrigation system. To specify the periods of various layers, more than 20 samples were taken from the stratigraphic pit for various analyses. 7 organic samples were forwarded to a laboratory for radiocarbon analysis, which helped date the object from the 5th to the 8th centuries AD. The study of the irrigation system included sampling soil and organic matter from the profiles of canals and probe pits made on the territory of the supposed ancient fields.

A team of land surveyors conducted research on an area of more than 820 hectares to specify the topography of the site, early Iron Age burial grounds, medieval necropolis and irrigation system. Detailed topographic data were obtained through photogrammetry using several UAVs and a high-precision GPS receiver.
