On 12 April 2022, Ms. Sarah Talalay, Cultural Affairs Officer, US Embassy in Tashkent, and Mr. James Talalay, a well-known professional photographer, paid a frieоndly visit to the headquarters of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS). Ms. Talalay was briefed by the staff of the Secretariat on the Institute's extensive research programme and numerous projects. Among those presented, Ms. Talalay paid special attention to the project "Traditional Bukharian Jewish Houses and Mahalla," funded by the World Monuments Fund (WMF) and carried out by IICAS in cooperation with the Bukhara State University (BSU).

Dr. Steven Gilbert (Lanier Centre for Archaeology at Lipscomb University, USA) and his wife were also warmly hosted on IICAS on 11-12 April 2022.

Dr. Gilbert has been conducting archaeological, ethnographic and theological research in Kazakhstan for many years. He has been editor of the English-language version of the Bulletin of IICAS since 2020. Passionate about the history of the Central Asian region, Dr. Gilbert edits the publication entirely pro bono and states that this work allows him to pursue self-improvement. His contribution to the journal is extremely valuable.

Despite the unofficial nature of his trip to Uzbekistan, Dr. Gilbert was eager to attend an editorial technical meeting with Editor-in-Chief Ruslan Muradov and the Director Dmitriy Voyakin.
