This year, April was marked for IICAS as the beginning
of a good tradition of transferring books to the Uzbekistani library
fund which is aimed at attracting a wider audience to the problems of
cultural heritage, as well as to strengthening social partnership.
The decree of the
government of the Republic of Uzbekistan established a week of reading, which
is annually held in early April.
This important
event did not pass by our good neighbor – "A.S. Pushkin Samarkand Regional
Information and Library Center ", which hosted thematic events. Gift sets
of IICAS publications were handed over to the winners of the competitions:
- "The most reading family",
- "The most reading
soldier"
IICAS formed and
transferred to the director of the "A.S. Pushkin Samarkand Regional
Information and Library Center" Akhmedova Sh.B., sets of periodic and
one-time scientific publications (in the amount of 20 titles each one) for the
purpose of their subsequent sending to the funds of 14 libraries of the
Republic of Uzbekistan.
The initiatives of IICAS were
not limited to replenishment of the library fund. The open day as part of
the Week of Reading included a lecture, which was delivered by
the employee of the institute in the form of conversation with the visitors of
the library focused on the issue of major importance of activities for the
preservation, reconstruction and restoration of cultural heritage monuments.
