The International Institute for Central Asian Studies is the recipient of a generous books donation from Mr. Michael Barry Lane, retired member of the UNESCO Secretariat. Mr. Michael Barry Lane is widely known in the region, having held first positions of UNESCO Representative to Uzbekistan and UNESCO Cultural Adviser in Central Asia (1996-2007).  These books are from his personal collection and represent the scope and breadth of Mr. Lane’s scholarship and interests in the field of history, arts, archaeology and architecture of Central Asia. They are a showcase of the profound dedication and quest for knowledge that no doubt has propelled his to some of the highest leadership positions in the studies of the Silk Roads cultural heritage. During delivery ceremony Mr. Lane also expressed his higher appreciation by IICAS which has been collaborating with UNESCO for a long time and has been providing with its unique insights and expertise on studies of tangible, intangible and documentary cultural heritage of Central AsiaThese books will serve as an invaluable source of reference for students and researchers and will be a great addition to the IICAS’s Library.
