A whole range of online and paper journals dedicated to the studies of Central Asia are published in the world nowadays. Primarily, these are publications issued by universities and academic institutions in English and Russian, being the two especially convenient languages for the researchers professionally involved in this region of the planet. The IICAS Bulletin, whose history spans 17 years, is one of such issues. In 2020, the IICAS Bulletin received its new face as part of an important re-branding. Since then, the journal is looking at the past as much as it tends to encompass the present. Without the historical awareness, it would have been impossible to discuss the existing cultural issues of the region, therefore, along with articles on history of Central Asia, the IICAS Bulletin publishes original texts on cultural studies and art history, on linguistic and religious aspects of life of the peoples of Central Asia, on the pursuit of architecture, music and other types of arts and creativity. This publication policy dictates the need to encourage international experts and analysts to author some IICAS Bulletin publications, as they are the community knowing well the region in their particular fields of endeavor. The journal publishes the results of specific studies, as well as science debate, criticism, and references to emerging scientific sources. This allows users to track and evaluate all the most important things that constantly appear in the fields of history and modern culture studies of the countries of Central Asia.

Some helpful information for our prospective authors:

1. The IICAS Bulletin is Central Asia’s only international scientific periodical journal that unites authors and readers from all the countries of the region, thus being a supra-national source not biased by any political or ideological interests and free from censorship. The only selection criteria for the published material is its scientific consistency and originality.

2. The journal is distinguished by its thematic diversity, publishing research works on the entire spectrum of the humanities for the Central Asian region, not imposing any chronological restrictions whatsoever – the publications topics may be ranging from the Stone Age to the most acute problems of our time.

3. The journal distribution includes its full-color illustration printed version and the electronic version. The printed version is issued on high-quality coated paper, and sent to the largest libraries of the countries of Central Asia and the rest of the world. The electronic version is freely downloadable. Unlike most scientific journals in Russia and in the West, where one can get only an abstract for free at best, the portable document format (pdf) version of the IICAS Bulletin is readily available at a link on the IICAS website.

4. The regular authors of the journal, as well as members of its Editorial Board and Editorial Staff, are mainly renowned researchers widely recognized in the scientific world, whose reputation contributes to the growth of the authority of young authors who have successfully passed double-blind peer review.

5. Articles are indexed in the RSCI [Russian Science Citation Index], and receive a DOI code. Immediately after the publication they become available to all interested parties all over the world. This contributes to a more efficient introduction of publications into the global scientific circulation and enhances the citation index of an author.

6. The journal is issued in two languages. An article written in Russian gets fully published in English simultaneously. The same is the case for articles which are submitted in English. This helps expand the potential audience considerably. Translation of the text from one language to another is undertaken by the Editorial Board, thus relieving the authors of the need to arrange for the translation.

7. In some cases, the editorial board places orders with authors to deliver some particularly important, relevant materials or articles on specific topics, stimulating them with a fairly high fee, which is not the case with the national scientific journals.

8. Permanent authors of the journal may sometimes enjoy priority in obtaining grants for the publication of their monographs as part of the competitions which are held by IICAS on an annual basis.

The IICAS Bulletin is open for cooperation with all interested authors. For detailed rules of articles preparation refer to the dedicated webpage at: https://www.unesco-iicas.org/ru/book/56
