A three-day
Sub-Regional Capacity Building Workshop on Cultural Heritage for Central Asia
was launched on May 18, 2021 within the framework of the UNESCO/Netherlands
Funds-in-Trust project “Building capacity in managing WH properties,
interconnection of development and heritage preservation in Uzbekistan and
Central Asia”.
The seminar
will be attended by international experts, representatives of UNESCO (World
Heritage Center), staff members of IICAS, representatives of national and
regional authorities and research institutions of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan,
Kazakhstan, Tajikistan.
During the
event, a range of heritage-related issues to be discussed includes, but is not
limited to:
§ proactive planning to guide
interventions in and around the UNESCO World Heritage sites;
§ framework for protection of cultural
heritage;
§ monitoring the state of conservation
of the sites;
§ the importance of promoting and
raising awareness of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in Central Asia.
