The World Monuments Fund and IICAS project: Traditional Bukharian Jewish Houses and Mahallas in Uzbekistan was presented during the International Conference “Digitizing Jerusalem’s Archives: Urban Heritage in the Age of Digital Culture. The conference was held 2-4 January and was organized by the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem. 

The opening was marked by an exciting lecture “Ottoman Jerusalem: An Urban Longing” given by Prof. Senan Abdelqader, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. Prof. Arch. Mike Turner (Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem, UNESCO Chair in Urban Planning and Conservation Studies), Prof. Mario Santana Quintero (Carleton University, Canada, Secretary General of ICOMOS), Dr. Ona Vileikis (IICAS, Uzbekistan & University College London, UK) were only a few of the participants who delivered speeches and chaired the sessions. Local and international experts, and municipal and national authorities also contributed with presentations and discussions on urban narratives, archives, challenges of digitization of documentary heritage, mapping and virtual reality.
