On November 24, 2022, the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) successfully held a regional workshop on strategy for elaboration of multinational nomination on Sogdian writings to the UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” International Register. The seminar was attended by almost 30 specialists from research institutions and museums across Central Asian countries. The workshop was aimed to create a regional collaboration network, a platform to prepare a prospective nomination for the international UNESCO “Memory of the World” Register, to highlight issues related to the nomination, and to exchange expert opinions.

Within the framework of the seminar, moderated by the leading specialist of IICAS Alim Feyzulayev, a series of reports were offered by Professor M. Iskhakov (Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies), Dr. P. Lurie (State Hermitage, St. Petersburg), Dr. A. Begmatov (Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities), Professor Sh. Kamoliddin (Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies) and A. Ikramov (IICAS). Professor A. Sattorzoda and B. Bobomulloev also made short presentations.

At the end of the seminar, in order to receive feedback, the participants were invited to send their recommendations and proposals for promoting the nomination to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register by December 1, 2022 to info@unesco-iicas.org.
