Description: Present publication is the third volume in a series devoted to the folk arts and crafts of the Central Asian communities. It reflects the history of development and the current state of the traditional artisanship in Kyrgyzstan. Publication consists of two parts. The first part is focused on the pieces of ancient and medieval art left by the population that occupied the territory of Kyrgyzstan since the Bronze Age. These are the splendid samples of ancient jewellery, made of bronze, gold, ivory, often with intrusions of jewels and precious stones. There are also arms, pottery, cult items and different utensils. The visual components of these artefacts were particularly diverse. The second part of the publication focuses on the folk art and crafts of Kyrgyzstan, including the unique architectural form of yurt.
