Present publication is the fourth volume in a series devoted to the folk arts and crafts of the Central Asian communities. It reflects the history of development and the current state of the traditional artisanship in Tajikistan. The publication summarizes the studies of a wide range of traditional crafts such as pottery, embossing, jewellery, wood carving, production of wooden and leather vessels, stone and alabaster carving, and decorative painting on alabaster, wood and papier-mache. Publication also includes the information on the decorative gold embroidery, which represents one of the most spectacular samples of decorative crafts of the Tajikistan.
