The International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) published the monograph of the prominent archaeologist – Nina Borisovna Nemtseva (Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan) “Ensemble of Shah-i-Zinda: History, Archaeology, Architecture”.
This monograph has been written on the basis of the materials of long archaeological-architectural studies of the world-famous site of architecture and construction art. And today, Shah-i-Zinda hasn't lost its importance. For some people it is a respected saint place (the tomb of Kusam ibn Abbas – a blood relative and companion of the Prophet), where traditional religious and cult rites (ziarat) take place, for others Shah-i-Zinda is a site of the international tourism, a versatile treasury of history, culture and architecture.
And few people know the site better than Nina Borisovna Nemtseva, who went to its excavations immediately after the university and devoted all her life to its studies. History, legends, unusual finds and controversial theories, detailed analysis of architecture and decor - this book absorbed all the information on the dynastic tomb of Timurids.
