the specialists of IICAS prepared the detailed photogrammetry of a series of sites of the Bukhara Region (Architectural Complex of Bahauddin Naqshband, Architectural Complex of Chor-Bakr, Vabkent Minaret and etc.)

As part of the preparation of the nomination dossier “Silk Roads: Zeravshan-Karakum Corridor” and the inclusion of the historical and cultural sites of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the specialists of IICAS prepared the detailed photogrammetry of a series of sites of the Bukhara Region (Architectural Complex of Bahauddin Naqshband, Architectural Complex of Chor-Bakr, Vabkent Minaret, Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, Ancient Settlement of Varakhsha, Ancient Settlement of Paikend), which allowed to get such information as: detailed 3D models of sites, digital elevation models (DEM), topography and high-resolution orthophotomosaics of the territory of sites with the surrounding areas.
At the moment, one of the stages of preparation of the nomination dossier, specifically the project of borders and protection areas of sites, has been completed. This is a project that aims to determine or clarify the boundaries of sites and their protection areas in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO criteria. Local and foreign high-level specialists have been engaged for the successful implementation of this project. In the course of the project, the following activities were undertaken:
– collection of a large amount of archival data, which allowed to form the most complete overview of historical and cultural background of development, as well as the architectural and town-planning characteristics of sites;
– identification of the regime of maintenance and use of the territory of the site and its protection areas;
– update of the site's passports.
