Dr. Dmitriy Voyakin, Mr. Alisher Ikramov, and Mr. Alim Feyzulayev were kindly hosted by His Excellency Mr. Kang Jae Kwon, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tashkent.
On 24.02.2020 Dr. Dmitriy Voyakin, Mr. Alisher Ikramov, and Mr. Alim Feyzulayev were kindly hosted by His Excellency Mr. Kang Jae Kwon, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tashkent.
The meeting was launched with a brief introduction to the history of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) and the major areas of research and cooperation. Another highlight was made on the 22nd session of the Academic Council of IICAS, which was held on 12 February 2020 in Bern, Switzerland, where the Republic of Korea was represented by Dr. Hee Soo Lee, Professor of the Department of Cultural Anthropology of the Hanyang University.
Special emphasis was put on the cooperation between Korean academic institutions and individual researchers and IICAS. Mr. Kang Jae Kwon was informed on the joint projects, completed in the past years, including the collaboration on the GCED Clearinghouse 2019 – a six-month project executed in cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU). A Letter of acknowledgment by Mr. Keum Gi Hyung, Director-General of the International Information and Networking Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP) was presented as evidence of strong academic ties, continuous and mutually beneficial collaboration between IICAS and ICHCAP.
In conclusion, Dr. Voyakin expressed his sincere readiness to advance the scientific collaboration with Korean partner institutions and Associate Members, stimulating the share of data, knowledge, and expertise in the fields of culture and science.
