The webinar on “Life, Environment, and ICH along the Silk Roads” and online strategic meeting on “Silk Road ICH Networking”
Following to the recommendation of the webinar on “Life, Environment, and ICH along the Silk Roads” and
online strategic meeting on “Silk Road ICH Networking” (18-19 November 2020)
ICHCAP (International Information and Networking Centre
for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific region under the auspices
of UNESCO) with the assistance of IICAS (International Institute for Central Asian Studies) invited
following seven individuals to serve in the Preparatory Committee. The members
are Jan Hladik (Head, UNESCO
Tashkent Office), Alisher Ikramov (Director,
Development of International Cooperation, IICAS), Kaloyan Nikolov (President,
European Association of Folklore Festivals, Bulgaria), Eunkyung Oh (Professor, Eurasia
Turk Institute of Dongduk University, Republic of Korea), Seong-Yong Park (Assistant
Director-General, ICHCAP), Jahangir Selimkhanov (Head,
Department of the Azerbaijan National Conservatoire), Chinara Bosunbaeva (Programme
Specialist, National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic for UNESCO). The First
Preparatory Committee Meeting, held on 30 March 2021, was divided into six
major parts to discuss matters related to governance, legal frameworks, network
activities, partnerships, and membership eligibility among other topics.
Overall the meeting was a success, and participants were able to agree on all agenda
items except issue on Silk Road ICH Network inaugural events for later this
year. There are a number of possibilities, but, depending on the coronavirus
pandemics situation, the venue for inaugural event will be decided during next
meetings of the Preparatory Committee. According to the adopted schedule of
activities, Second Preparatory Committee Meeting will be organized in May 2021.
